DESCRIPTION:Golden Hills Resource Conservation & Development is in the beginning stages of a project through the Iowa\nWatershed Approach that will design and install over $5.3 million of best management practices throughout\nFremont and Mills County\, IA. This will include a variety of practices such as: dams/ponds\, sediment basins\,\nterraces\, wetlands\, buffers\, stream bank stabilization\, bioreactors\, and more.\nThis project is funded through HUD and will be bid through a competitive bid process which will include\nrequirements such as Davis Bacon Wages. Following the meal\, attendees will have the opportunity to tour four conservation practices installed at the farm. The stops will include a saturated buffer with Tom Isenhart\, ISU Natural Resource Ecology and Management Professor\, bioreactor with Michelle Soupir\, ISU Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Associate Professor\, and Natasha Hoover\, ISU Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Research Associate\, oxbow wetland with Adam Janke\, ISU Natural Resource Ecology and Management Assistant Professor and Extension Wildlife Specialist\, and Sean McCoy\, Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship Environmental Specialist\, and a pollinator habitat demonstration with Seth Appelgate\, ISU Monarch Research Team.
